Privacy Policy
How Marknest handles your account, local Markdown files and cloud data.

Who we are
Marknest is operated by AlphaBlue in Thailand. For privacy questions, access or correction requests, or help exercising your rights, contact support@marknest.net. This policy covers the Marknest website, cloud service and native apps.
Your files belong to you
Your local Library contains Markdown files and original attachments in a directory you choose. Files opened only for local editing are not uploaded merely because you open them. Binding a Library to your account and synchronizing sends its managed documents, organization and attachments to Marknest. You control any separate copies held by iCloud, Google Drive or another storage provider.
Data we process and why
We process account information such as your name, email address and account identifier to authenticate you and operate your account. Cloud features process documents, frontmatter, versions, folders, attachments, synchronization operations and sharing settings to store, synchronize and deliver your content. Support processes information you choose to send us. Service requests may include IP addresses, request and error details, timestamps and device/app information used for security, reliability and troubleshooting. Do not include passwords, verification codes or private note content in support messages unless necessary.
Cloud processing and sharing
Cloud content encryption is managed by the server at rest; it is not end-to-end encryption. Authorized service processes can access content to provide the features you use. Search may create content indexes. When semantic search/RAG processing is enabled, document text and search queries can be sent to the configured embedding provider, including OpenAI, to produce search vectors. Public links expose the content you choose to share to people with access to the link. Connected integrations receive content within the permissions you grant; you can revoke their credentials.
Service providers and international processing
We use infrastructure and delivery providers, including Cloudflare, to host and deliver the service, email providers to deliver account messages, and Stripe to handle web subscription payments. Payment-card information is handled by the payment provider; do not send card details to Support. Providers process information needed for their services, and processing may occur outside your country, including outside Thailand. We do not sell your personal information or use your notes for targeted advertising. The native app does not include advertising or tracking SDKs. Third-party storage, payment and embedding services also have their own privacy practices.
Local settings and website storage
The app stores credentials in Keychain and preferences and recovery information in application storage. Website cookies or browser storage keep authentication, language and appearance choices. The website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives connection information such as your IP address and browser request headers. Local storage providers may maintain their own versions or deleted-file history. Marknest account deletion does not remotely erase these user/provider-controlled copies.
Account deletion and retention
Use Settings → Account → Delete account in the native app, or contact support@marknest.net for help. Verification protects against unauthorized deletion. Acceptance freezes cloud access and starts retryable deletion of account content, versions, attachments, exports and search records; it does not mean every background operation has already finished. Active Stripe subscriptions are cancelled during cleanup without waiting for the billing period to end. No automatic refund is issued; statutory rights and billing corrections remain available through Support.
Recovery and financial records
Content-bearing recovery copies are subject to a maximum 30-day retention period from backup creation. After successful live-content cleanup, residual recovery copies expire within that period; a failed cleanup is not described as completed deletion. Restricted deletion records help prevent old recovery copies from restoring deleted accounts. Minimal financial evidence, such as amounts, currencies, dates and transaction/refund references, is kept for five years from the applicable accounting or tax reporting date, and longer where required by law or a documented dispute. Note content and attachments are not kept for accounting. Stripe may retain its own legally required records. Security and support records are retained only for the purposes described here and applicable legal obligations.
Your choices and rights
You can edit account information, retain your local Markdown and attachments, revoke integration credentials and sharing, and request access, correction or deletion through Support. Rights and any lawful retention exceptions depend on applicable law. You may also raise a concern with the relevant data-protection authority. We verify requests as needed without asking for your password or email verification code.
Changes and contact
We update this page when our practices change and identify the revision date. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate service channel. Contact support@marknest.net with questions.
